【摘要】:Petroleumwaxesinrubbercompoundsarecommonlyusedtoprovideprotectionfromdegradationbyozoneunderstaticconditions,thatis,whenthereislittleornoflexingoftherubberproducts.Themodeofactionforthisprotectionis(1)migrationofthewaxthroughtherubbertothesurfaceoftheproductand(2)theformationofanozoneimperviousfilmonthesurface.Thisstandardclassifiesthepetroleumwaxesonthebasisofmolecularweight.Ingeneral,waxesoflowermolecularweight(x201C;paraffinicx201D;orx201C;crystallinex201D;)migratethroughtherubbermorerapidlyandformmorebrittlefilmthanthehighermolecularweightwaxes(x201C;microcrystallinex201D;).Waxmixturesandblendsarecommonlyused.Nodirectinferenceofsuitabilityforuseinaparticularrubbercompoundismadeorimpliedbytheclassificationsherein.1.1Thisclassificationisintendedtoestablishaclassificationsystemandtestmethodsforpetroleumwaxesusedinrubbercompoundingprimarilyasastaticprotectiveagentormaterialforunsaturatedrubberssuchasstyrene-butadienerubber,polyisoprenerubber,naturalrubber,chloroprenerubber,acrylonitrile-butadienerubber,andpolybutadienerubber.Theseunsaturatedrubbersaresubjecttoozonecracking.Undercertainexposureconditions,waxesretardthiscracking.1.2Thisclassificationisapplicabletopetroleumwaxesusedasprocessaidsinrubbercompounding.Itisnotapplicabletononpetroleumwaxessuchascarnubawax,candelillewax,orceresinwax,nortosynthetichydrocarbonwaxessuchaspolyethylenewax.Thesenon-petroleumwaxesdisplayadifferentbehaviorongaschromatographicanalysisthandopetroleumwaxes.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
